1405 - Zheng He's Voyages to the Western Sea, "Episode 5: Happiness of the Whole World"

During 1405 to 1425, Zheng He led the ship fleet of the Ming Dynasty and made six ocean-going navigations. He and his crews traveled across the Indian Ocean and reached distant Arabian coasts and even the coastal areas in East Africa. Due to his predominant contributions in Jing Nan Battle,Zheng He won the trust of Ming Cheng Zu, who appointed him the admiral of the largest ship fleet in the world at that time. Zheng He led this fleet to travel through savage waves and to avoid various dangerous reefs. He faithfully adhered to Zhu Di’s foreign policy of “no bully the weak” and won recognition of neighboring countries. When Zheng He’s fleet traveled farther on the voyages, Ming Cheng Zu Zhu Di, who had initiated the cause of navigation, passed away on the road of fighting against Aruqtai. In terms of the navigational cause of the Ming Dynasty, the Ming imperial court held heated debates. Could Zheng He continue his maritime navigation that so many imperial officials opposed? Why was there no record of Zheng He’s death in the historical documents about his seventh navigation that were the most detailed among those of his all seven navigations? How many secrets had been buried up in history with the passing away of Zheng He?
