From Xinhua News Agency: (0714 CR M01)CHINA AGAINST US ARM SALE TO TAIWAN DATELINE: July 14, 2011 LENGTH: 00:00:57 VO China has urged U.S. Congress not to support arms sale to Taiwan to promote a peaceful development of cross-strait relations. A visiting delegation from China's National People's Congress to the U.S. conveyed the message during an inter-parliamentary exchange meeting on Tuesday. The Chinese delegation said the Taiwan issue is an important and sensitive core in the China-U.S. relations. China hopes that the U.S. side will abide by the principles of the three joint communiques between the two countries, and handle the Taiwan issue with caution. On their part, the U.S. side said it is well aware of the related concerns of China. They reiterating that the U.S. will continue to uphold the One-China policy. This is the sixth inter-parliamentary meeting under a regular meeting mechanism between China and the U.S. The mechanism was set up in 2004 to boost exchange and pragmatic cooperation.
