The figure was released by Jiang Zengwei, vice minister of the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday. Nearly 13,000 underground factories making pirated and faked products and about 4,900 gangs selling those pirated goods were also destroyed. The Chinese government initiated a nationwide campaign to fight against rampant illegalities producing pirated and faked books, DVDs and famous brand commodities since last October.
