From Xinhua News Agency: (0704 CR M03)HEAT WAVE HITS CHINA DATELINE: July 4, 2011 LENGTH: 00:00:56 VO China's National Meteorological Center issued an alert Sunday. It stated that high temperatures would hit several provinces of the country on Monday. Temperatures were expected to range between 35 to 39 degrees Celsius. The majority of southwestern and parts of northwestern China will see temperatures ranging between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, temperatures in most eastern and central parts of China are predicted to reach as high as 38 to 39 degrees Celsius. The center has warned local residents to avoid going outdoors Monday afternoon, when temperatures will reach their peak. Elderly and sick people, as well as children and outdoor laborers, should also make efforts to avoid the heat. The center also calls for utility companies to pay attention to the safety of their electrical transmission and supply equipment to prevent power overloads during the heat wave.
