As a Eurocopter helicopter made a smooth landing on the tarmac lot, the Badaling Airport in suburban Beijing came to life again this week. The Badaling Airport has a 800-meter-long runway and a 2,000-square-meter parking tarmac. It is so far the only privately-funded facility in Beijing dedicated to general aviation. The reopening of the airport is part of the country's efforts to facilitate its GA market. General aviation, or GA, refers to flight operations apart from military and scheduled airlines, regular cargo flights and aerial work. GA aircrafts usually fly less than 3,000 meters above ground.
