According to local health authorities, a preliminary medical test shows that 26 adults and 103 children are suffering from severe lead poisoning, while another 494 adults are suffering from moderate lead poisoning. Severe lead poisoning is defined as having more than 600 micrograms of lead per liter of blood for an adult and more than 250 micrograms for a child. It is reported that those workers are from 25 family-run tinfoil processing workshops in the township of Yangxunqiao. Local authorities said they have suspended operations of these workshops and those confirmed to be suffering from severe lead poisoning will be treated for free.
