Wildlife Podcast, week 43 2009

In the 43rd week of the year we begin our journey in Meno a Kwena, Botswana with cameraman Boris von Schoenebeck, where we take a close look at newborn frogs lining the water's edge along the Boteti River. We then head over to the Pomene estuary in Mozambique where Barry Skinstad spends some time with a beautiful cuttlefish. Then it's back to Botswana's Nxamaseri channel, where a boomslang causes quite a stir as it weaves in and out of the nesting burrows of carmine bee-eaters, in search of chicks and eggs. We end off this week at a different location along the Nxamaseri channel, where Boris von Schoenebeck documents the tenuous hold resident skimmer birds have on survival in an environment fraught with threats to their safety.
