Wells' effort epitomizes Padres' pitching

The Padres won their 87th game with a familiar formula. They got superb pitching from start to finish, from David Wells to Trevor Hoffman, with Cla Meredith and Scott Linebrink getting the ball to the save master for No. 45 of one of his most gratifying seasons.
