Wahlberg in new thriller flick

Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg braved rainy weather to greet hundreds of fans at the London premiere of his new movie Shooter. The 36-year-old star plays Bob Lee Swagger, a former Army sniper who is framed by the FBI as a presidential assassin. The film sees Swagger on the run as he tries to identify the real killer but Wahlberg hopes the audience would see past the guns and explosions and warm to his character. He said: "The audience would accept what he was doing because of the wrong that was done to him, but I want people to root for him and like him so we tried to make him as human as possible."The Oscar-nominated actor found fame as pop star Marky Mark and famously showed off his abs as a Calvin Klein model in the 1990s.Director Antoine Fuqua, whose previous films include Training Day, thinks it is important Wahlberg remembers where he came from.He said: "A lot of young people grew up with Marky Mark and grew up with the Calvin Klein model and they're really proud to see him at the Academy Awards. So it's actually a good thing that people remember him as that."© Independent Television News Limited 2007. All rights reserved.
