The young heiress of the Versace fashion house is suffering from anorexia.Allegra Beck Versace, 20, has been struggling with the condition for many years according to a joint statement released by her mother, Donatella Versace and father Paul Beck. They said: "Our daughter Allegra has been battling anorexia, a very serious disease, for many years.""She is receiving the best medical care possible to help overcome this illness and is responding well," said the statement, released to stem rumours about Allegra's health."Allegra is not at present staying in any hospital, she is living in her private residence and her condition does not cause particular concerns," it said.Allegra inherited 50 per cent of the Versace empire on her 18th birthday from her uncle Gianni who was murdered in 1997.The founder of the fashion house was gunned down outside his Miami Beach mansion by serial killer Andrew Cunanan. The announcement follows the fallout from the recent size zero debate and the deaths of two models, Luisel Ramos who died of heart failure during a fashion show and Ana Carolina Reston, who died of complications brought on by anorexia.© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
