A fire engulfs an oil refinery in Oklahoma after it was struck by lightning, causing two giant fuel tanks to explode and sending flames 300 feet into the air. An oil refinery in Oklahoma was engulfed in flames on Friday night (April 27) after reportedly being struck by lightning. Flames up to 300 feet tall rose from burning tanks at the Wynnewood Refining Company refinery, a town about fifty miles south of Oklahoma City. Officials are blaming lightning for the blaze that started earlier on Friday. So far there have been no injuries reported. Firefighters thought they had put the fire out, until the tanks exploded. The refinery processes about 50-thousand barrels of crude oil each day.
