A shooter opened fire at a Vermont elementary school on Thursday (August 24, 2006) in an incident that left at least two people dead and three wounded, police said. Police in Essex, Vermont, where the shooting occurred, said one person had been taken into custody but they gave no other details. New England Cable News reported the shooter was a 20-year-old man.
