Three year-old twin sisters who were last together as babies in China have been reunited in Chicago, Illinois. They share not only genes but first names. Coincidentally, their adoptive mothers both named them Mia. The twins first met as toddlers on Friday (August 18) at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. There was understandable shyness and confusion as they walked towards each other, seeing their own mirror image. But before long, Mia and Mia were holding hands while their adoptive mothers, Diana Ramirez and Holly Funk, looked on. Later the families of the girls spent time together at a cookout at the home of the Funk family in Lyons, Illinois near Chicago. The Ramirez family lives in Miami, Florida. On Monday. (August 21), the twins made an appearance with their mothers on national television, as guests on the "Today Show." The adoptive mothers of the girls, Diana Ramirez and Holly Funk, found each other through the Internet. The families belonged to an Internet group that unites families with adopted children from the same orphanage. Both had children already, but wanted to adopt little girls from China. The adoption agency never told them their baby was a twin. The girls were said to be abandoned outside a textile factory in China before being put up for adoption. The families are planning another meeting for the twins in October.
