USA: Snow, ice impede morning commute for many Texans

Snow, ice impede morning commute for many Texans. Texas State officials closed a several hundred mile stretch of highway in southwest Texas Wednesday (January 17, 2007) due to snow and ice warnings. Freezing rain prompted some school districts to close while others opted to start later. Nearly 75 percent of flights from San Antonio airport were cancelled. The cold weather onslaught only reached the southwest on Wednesday after spending nearly a week in central Texas.
