Amid a flurry of flashing bulbs former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham arrived at the Oscar de la Renta fashion show in New York City on Monday (September 10) adding star power to the designer's Spring Spring 2008 collection. Sitting next to the British star in the front row was American actress Amanda Peet. De la Renta's daytime collection featured silk shantung pants and suits in neutrals like cream and olive green that were accessorized with oversized handbags, often in bright colours like red. For night-time, the clothes were more colourful and very feminine. The skirts were all knee length and varied from pencil cut to pouffy. After the show, Beckham admitted that part of the appeal of going to fashion shows is the shopping opportunities. "I always look at things and think 'what would I like for myself', you know, but I'm also just going to see what the designer is putting out there. But it's great to look at dresses and think 'wow, I'd love to try that on'. I mean I'd love to go back there now and try everything on," she said. Caroline Herrera also presented her Spring 2008 collection on Monday as part of New York Fashion Week. She was inspired by the water-colours of Jeremiah Goodman, an artist who captures the interiors of homes in his work. "It's for the woman who likes colour and drama because each of the dresses have a very important detail, you know, an extravagant detail and it's a - I think it's a very snappy collection," said Herrera. Brick red was predominant in the collection, as well as pear green. At Luca Luca, the lines were soft and feminine and the look was very clean-cut. The colors were mainly pastel pinks, blues and greens and the garments were often accented with sparkles. New York Fashion Weekon September 12th.
