USA: Musharraf visits Washington, calling for international cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan visited Washington on Thursday (September 21), calling for international cooperation in the fight against terrorism. President Musharraf told delegates that democracy has become strong in his nation. He discussed Pakistan's internal conflicts and general international issues with delegates on Capitol Hill. Musharraf also called for an end to what he called propaganda perpetuated against Pakistan, stating that his country has played a larger role in fighting against terrorist organizations than any other nation. Musharraf's visit comes just close to making charges that after the September 11 attacks, the United States threatened to bomb his country if it did not cooperate with America's campaign against the Taliban in Afghanistan. Musharraf, in an interview with CBS news magazine show "60 Minutes" that will air on Sunday, said the threat came from then Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage and was given to Musharraf's intelligence director.
