USA: Floodwaters engulph small towns along the Missouri river

Residents in small towns along the Missouri river were told to evacuate on Wednesday (May 9) as swollen rivers and streams rose above their banks. Parkville, Missouri was overrun by flood waters on Wednesday (May 9). Residents there were told to stop sandbagging and ordered to evacuate. Missouri governor Matt Blunt has declared a state of emergency as more rain soaked waterways threaten to overflow. In 1993, this same area was devastated with the most costly flood in U.S. History -- when melting snow combined with several rounds of heavy rains over a two month period.
