A midwestern farmer has grown a pumpkin weighing one-thousand pounds. The giant gourd grew on a farm in Roselle, Illinois. After being weighed, the pumpkin was sent to a local festival Friday (September 30, 2005). It required a dozen men to move it. Although it's an impressive specimen, this pumpkin doesn't even come close to holding the title of the world's largest. The Guinness Book says the record for heaviest pumpkin was set in 2002, by a massive 1,338 pound vegetable from the state of New Hampshire. Other competitions claim to have recorded championship pumpkins heavier than 1,400 pounds.
