Top-selling female artist Barbra Streisand is set to begin another concert tour, but this time she is sharing the stage with Italian Pop Group "Il Divo" and donating millions of dollars from the proceeds to charity. The "Barbra Streisand" north-American multi-city tour starts in Philadelphia on October 4th, and will feature the singer performing some of her old signatures, as well as new reinterpretations with "Il Divo." The concert series marks the first time Streisand will return to the concert stage since her supposed "farewell" performances in Las Vegas in 1999, as well as her first concert tour in over a decade. "This show is quite different, it's really about the music -- the music and me. It's much simpler, I don't have any pyrotechnics, or trap doors, except sort of one. But no, it's just the music and me," says Barbra Streisand. A portion of the proceeds from the "Barbra Streisand" tour will be distributed through The Streisand Foundation, and 1 million U.S. dollars were recently donated to the William Jefferson Clinton Climate Control Initiative as its lead contribution. The tour is one of the most anticipated of 2006, with tickets ranging from 100 dollars to 750 dollars, and VIP packages costing up to 1800 dollars. Each show is expected to sell out quickly, as was the case with Streisand's record-shattering "The Concert" tour in 1994. "Money for great charities that I believe in. You know, there's so much to be done in the world today, annd certainly the medical research for women, and fighting against nuclear proliferation, global warming, so many good things to do in the world that I have to raise money, you know? Just call me a charity slut," says Barbra Streisand. Two-time Academy Award winner Barbra Streisand, who is married to actor James Brolin, most recently starred in "Meet the Fockers" with Dustin Hoffman and Robert DeNiro. Her concert tour commences on October 4th in Philadelphia and concludes on November 20th in Los Angeles.
