Oscar award-winning actress Charlize Theron becomes the 2,291st celebrity to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On Thursday Theron was honored by the entertainment community and throngs of fans that gathered outside of the Kodak Theatre to watch the unveiling ceremony. Hollywood Mayor Johnny Grant officially uncovered the etched cement tribute to the actress and presented her with a matching plaque. The statuesque blonde tearfully thanked her mother, Gerda, her manager, her attorney, her boyfriend, and a group of friends who have supported her throughout the years. Theron also expressed her appreciation for being able to learn something from every actor and director she has ever worked with during her ten-year career. "I'm still learning, you know. Every day single day I work I learn and that's why I really wanted to thank every actor I have ever worked with, and director, because they've all been my teachers, and so I still feel like I am still starting. I still have so much that I want to learn and so much I want to do," said Theron. Theron was discovered at a Wells Fargo bank on Hollywood Boulevard in 1995. An agent took notice of her when she made a scene after a teller refused to cash an out-of-state check sent to her by her mother. The South African native then watched soap operas to learn English. After making more than a dozen films, Theron won an Oscar in 2004 for her portrayal of a serial killer in the critically acclaimed movie, "Monster." Theron says getting her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame represents achieving a dream she never thought possible. "Well it is. I come from the other side of the world, you know," said Theron. "And I didn't grow up in this culture, and never really knew how you would even go about being an actor. And so to be here today, and have this honor be given to me is somewhat of a… I am still having it sink in. Yeah. It's huge. Yeah." Theron's next film is a drama inspired by the true story of a woman who fought for equal treatment and better working conditions for females working in a Midwest mine. "North Country" opens in theaters nationwide on October 21st.
