US victory for Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton has won the United States Grand Prix in Indianapolis. The 22-year-old Briton finished ahead of McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso, claiming his second Grand Prix victory in only his seventh race.Hamilton started the race on pole position, with Alonso alongside him on the front row.The Brit won the crucial race to the first corner and kept the defending champion at bay as the McLarens built a comfortable lead ahead of the Ferrari pair Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen.Alonso finished second, just as he did in Montreal a week ago.Massa came in third, and Raikkonen was fourth. The result means Hamilton is now ten points clear of Alonso at the top of the world championship.David Coulthard's race only lasted four laps. He was an innocent bystander as cars collided, but he was forced off the track.Jenson Button could only finish 12th.© Independent Television News Limited 2007. All rights reserved.
