US marines counter tactics of the Taliban - 05 Jul 09 US marines have been marching into southern Afghanistan to fight the Taliban but there is little sign of their presence. As thousands of US troops, backed up by Afghan and British forces are fanning out across Helmand province, the offensive is believed to be just part of a wider operation to hunt down Taliban fighters across the country.
