UNITED KINGDOM: Pop princess Kylie Minogue captures fans hearts as she appears in a London bookstore for a signing session of her first children's book 'Kylie - The Showgirl Princess'

Kylie Minogue looked every inch the pop princess on Saturday (September 30) as she took time out from rehearsals for her comeback tour to launch her new children's book. The Aussie pop star, now in remission from breast cancer, wowed her younger fans with her fairytale dress at the launch of The Showgirl Princess at the Waterstone's flagship store on London's Oxford Street. The star, looking amazing in wearing a knee length dress decorated with large flowers and sequins and with big wizard-like sleeves, got thumbs up from her youngest fans: "I think it's really amazing how strong she is and she's looking as gorgeous as ever and she pulled through really well and I'm glad", said 13-year-old Sophie. Ten-year-old Augusta said "I feel happy because now she's recovered from her cancer and everything." "She's a good singer and I like her music and she's nice", said 7-year-old Reva and ten year-old Lauren agreed : "I think she's really strong and like has comeback and facing all her fans again, I'm really glad." Kylie, 38, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and forced to cancel the end of her Showgirl tour. She is now in remission following surgery and chemotherapy and is set to return to the stage in Australia in November. At the book signing she took time out to speak to Reuters Television about why she decided to write the book and that it was therapeutic during her recovery: "Do you know what, way back to when I was in primary school, I used to do drawings and stories and my dad has always, my dad will love this (laughs), my dad has always said one day you're gonna write children's books, I know that sounds impossible but I remember that from being a child and that and what really spurred this book on was when I was on tour I got a lot of drawings from children and I melted everytime I received one of these drawings. Some of them I thought well that must be me on a bad day...eyes here and very Picasso...but just to see their interpretation and what stood out to them and normally it was the dress, it was the shoes , the lights on stage, I generally had a microphone and that was kind of a theme that went through their drawings and so at first I thought I'd love to be able to publish those pictures because it's cool to see how they perceived me and but then maybe that was just fun for me and so to cut a long story short it led to 'Showgirl Princess' and I met with the publishers whilst I was having treatment so yes it was therapeutic to be working on something that I could basically do through meetings and on the computer and on the internet . I took about ...hundreds of pictures of Sheeba (her dog), I was just so hands on , put them on the computer, emailed that, no that's not right, change that, change that, and so yeah it could all happen whilst I was in recovery and so yeah for me it's...I think everything I'm doing at the moment feels slightly monumental because I'm here and it's happening so ...I think that's the answer to your question." The Showgirl Princess is the star's first children's book and is said to be a lavish, magical picture book designed for anyone aged 6 and over. The story, coupled with exclusive pictures of the singer mimics her real life and tells how she becomes a showgirl princess.
