Barbra Streisand received a warm welcome from fans as she performed in London for the first time in 13 years on Wednesday (July 18). Acknowledged as one of the best-selling female artists of all time, Streisand's appearance in London marked the last leg of her eight-city tour through Europe. The singer said ending her European tour in London brought back memories of her very first concert tour, and thanked fans for their support. "I haven't performed here since 1994, when I began my first concert tour, and now I am ending my first European tour in the same city, so there is a lovely kind of symmetry, right. And thank you so very much for coming out tonight to welcome me back so warmly. Thank you," Streisand said. Ahead of the tour, Streisand hit the headlines in Britain when tickets for the concert at the new 02 Arena in London went on sale for up to 500 (Pounds Sterling) each. But fans attending the show on Wednesday night said the price was right for three-night London leg. "She is worth every penny. If you get a chance to see her, go and see her. She might not be around for a lot longer. But for the moment, fantastic," said Peter Moore. "I would pay ten thousand pounds to see her. Wonderful," Moore added. "The atmosphere is amazing, you can tell there is a real icon on stage," said London resident Emma Ahmed. Born in New York to Jewish American parents in 1942, according to online biographies, Streisand has never played outside North America except for London and Australia prior to her European tour.
