One of the UK terror suspects was formally charged on Monday (July 16) in connection with the failed car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow. Sabeel Ahmed, 26, who worked at Halton Hospital in Cheshire, in England, is accused of possessing information which could have prevented an act of terrorism. The medic, from Bangalore in India, was arrested in Liverpool on June 30 by police investigating the botched attacks. He is charged under Section 38 of the Terrorism Act with having information which he "knew or believed may be of material assistance in preventing the commission by another of an act of terrorism". He has been remanded in custody until a further court hearing on August Ahmed, the third person to be charged over the failed bombings, appeared at the City of Westminster Magistrates' Court in London. He is the brother of Kafeel Ahmed, 27, who was arrested after a flaming Jeep was driven into Glasgow Airport. He remains under police guard in a critical condition in hospital. Meanwhile, the Australian government said it would override a magistrate's decision to bail another doctor charged over the alleged plot. Over the weekend, police in Britain released two people and were given extra time to question a third suspect arrested over the failed attacks. Two trainee doctors, aged 25 and 28, were released without charge on Sunday (July 15) after being held since their arrest at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley, in the early hours of July 2. The alleged terrorist plot unfolded after two car bombs were found in central London on June 29. The following day a flaming Jeep Cherokee was driven into the main entrance of Glasgow Airport.
