UK/FILE: Supermodel Kate Moss to be arrested on her return to Britain, claims British tabloid newspaper The Sun

Troubled supermodel Kate Moss is looking at being arrested on her return to the UK in light of reports that she took illegal drugs, reports Britain's Sun Newspaper (October 6). Moss may be asked to attend a police station and be quizzed over allegations that she supplied a class A drug, the paper reports. French fashion house Chanel, British label Burberry and Swedish high-street retailer Hennes & Mauritz dumped Moss from their ad campaigns following newspaper reports of her purported cocaine use. Last month, Scotland Yard revealed there will be a police investigation into the reports. "If we have an allegation that's so visible to the public of person that's such a role model, then it seems to me only appropriate that we would investigate that. The implications of not investigating it seem to me to be very, very difficult for us," said Sir Ian Blair, Metropolitan Police Commissioner. The Daily Mirror newspaper printed pictures of the London-born model that the British tabloid said showed her snorting cocaine. Police said any investigation would require more evidence than newspaper photos before it could proceed. Pete Doherty, Moss' on-again-off-again boyfriend and lead singer of UK rock band Babyshambles, expressed his frustration at the tabloid reports when he shouted at journalists: "You are ruining lives, you are ruining lives! Do you enjoy doing that?" Moss, who has a three-year-old daughter, was discovered by a modelling agency as a 14-year-old schoolgirl, and her waifish good looks have graced the covers of countless magazines. Although her statement made no specific reference to the Mirror report, she said she took full responsibility for her actions. "I also accept that there are various personal issues that I need to address and have started taking the difficult, yet necessary, steps to resolve them," she said. Her agent Sarah Doukas said Moss was "gutted, absolutely devastated", when she heard about the Mirror report. Doukas said her client had left Britain for the time being, and that despite recent career setbacks, she was about to sign a new deal with an unnamed perfume company. Media reports say Moss has checked in to the Meadows rehabilitation clinic in Wickenburg, Arizona.
