Supermodel-turned-designer Elle Macpherson launched her new line of lingerie line 'Intimates' from the bedroom of her alter ego in London on Monday (January 22). The bedroom was set up in London's Selfridge's department store, complete with all of the details Macpherson had created for her character, from DVD and record collection to photographs of past friends and lovers. "Well I wanted to create a character that was the sort of woman that would buy boudoir and I wanted her to be multi-layered," Macpherson explained to Reuters Television. "So it is somebody why is interested in politics, she reads Noam Chomsky, she's interested in poetry she reads Leonard Cohen, she's interested in music, she has old records from the Stones or from Bryan Ferry." Although Macpherson stressed that she designed lingerie for women of all shapes and sizes, she would not be drawn into commenting on last year's controversy in the fashion world over models being banned from the catwalk in Madrid for being too thin. "Well, I'm not really in a position to discuss what women's body shapes should be like. I create lingerie for all sorts of body types, that is the success of my brand. You know, and that's what I continue to do and that's what my focus is," she said, bringing the subject back around to her . In addition to the set of lingerie launched on Monday, a second suite will come out next April. ENDS.
