Turkish Prime Minister Announces Development Project

Turkish Prme Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced a 30 billion dollar Southeast Development Plan in southeast province of Diyarbakir. The project, is seen as an important step in economic development for the region and is expected to be completed within only 5 years. When the project is complete around 4 million people will be provided employment. Details of the Southeastern Anatolia Project, known as Project GAP, are being heralded in Diyarbakir by Prime Minister Erdogan. It is to be the second largest investment project in Turkiye's history The new action plan which will complete Project GAP will change the appearance of the region in many respects. To accomplish the project an additional 12 billion dollar resource has been generated Recep Tayyip Erdogan said. These seeds we have planted today will not only turn this region green but also the entire country clearing away the difference of development between the regions in Turkiye. The project stands on economic development, infrastructure and social transformation generated by the billions of dollars funds. The provinces of GAZIANTEP and URFA in the southeast region will be turned into centers of attraction through new incentive policies.He said. With the completion of the project 4.4 million acres of farmland will be supplied water. Besides, the land along the Syrian border will be demined and opened to organic farming. As a social development function of the project, education, health, social services and assistance, culture, art and sports have been included as part of Project GAP. The project is also aimed at ending terror as well as stopping immigration from south to the west in the short term.
