The stars of one of this summer's hotly-tipped action movies, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, have turned out for its world premiere in Tokyo. Director Michael Bay and actors Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox were greeted in the Japanese capital by hundreds of screaming fans. The show's centrepiece was a 60ft replica of another of the film's stars, the robot Bumblebee. The special-effects movie extravaganza - based on the popular Hasbro toys of the 1980s and 90s - dominated box offices around the world when its first big-screen outing was released in 2007. Bay is hoping the Steven Speilberg-produced sequel, some of which is set in Egypt, will have the same powerful effect on audiences. "When we were coming up with the script, I kept thinking about pyramids and going back in time," he said. "The transformers have been here a long time, and I think we're one of the first movies in 30 years to shoot physically on the pyramids which is kind of magical experience." Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen hits UK cinemas on June 19.
