Tona Walt Ohama - "Of Whales" 80s Techno - video by Eva Everything

"Of Whales" is from the 1984 vinyl album "i fear what i might hear" nominated for a U-KNOW (now CASBY) award in Toronto Canada 1985 http://spiritofradio.ca/U-Knows.asp?Page=01 This song got more airplay than any of my recordings except "Where Do You Call Home?" and the album was #1 on dozens of campus radio stations in North America in 1984 I wrote the song after news reports of whales beaching themselves to commit suicide...my theory at the time was that we had polluted the oceans with so much noise (boats) that their communications were disrupted and drove them mad...well, it's a thought. This video was sent to me by Eva Everything in October 2008 which she cut using footage from the early 90's. Eva was awarded the Canadian Science Writer's Award and the ceremony happened to be in Calgary, Alberta - from her visit are some rare images of my studio and home (and me) at that time. Thanks Eva for getting this together and letting me post it on YouTube... Oberheim OB-Xa, DMX, DSX, Yamaha DX-7 plus tape - I did not own a sampler at this time. I decided to not use a snare during the majority of the song and the glass smash is a tape recording that was played over and over into the multitrack. Shot by Eva Everything
