Tom Cruise has spoken publicly for the first time after the death of John Travolta's son Jett. Speaking on US talk show The View, Cruise struggled to keep his composure as he spoke about the 16-year-old's death. Cruise was asked by the show's host Babara Walters what his thoughts were on the sudden death. "It's horrific. You have...look it's just horrific. I mean here's a man who is - both of them doting parents, just wonderful people and they...it's you know I just..," he said before trailing off. Cruise and wife Katie Holmes are close friends with fellow Scientologists Travolta and wife Kelly Preston. Walters also pressed Cruise on rumours surrounding Jett's death and Scientology. "Let me ask you something more specific because there has been criticism. One of the things that was said was that in your religion there is not a medication, you don't unnecessarily take a member of your family or anyone to a doctor. Is that the case?" she said. "No, it's not true. It's actually - that's just not true. It's actually the opposite, where you, they say, 'Look, get medication, get your physical illnesses handled'. It's actually the exact opposite. "I remember Jett when he was born and I saw him when he was just a few months old and John just adored him and both of his children and Kelly. So, it's something that I don't have the words for and I think. Any parent." Jett died suddenly while the family was on holiday in the Bahamas. The cause of death was listed as "seizure disorder" on the death certificate.
