This piece was written on my Korg 01Wfd synthesizer with its 16 track sequencer, while on vacation at one of my favorite places, at a dear friend's cottage in Muskoka. I have had the privilege of being invited there on so many occasions since my childhood and have been so thankful for the love and graciousness that I have always been shown there. It is such a relaxing environment to spend time with family & old friends in, as well as a great place to meet new friends. It is here that I discovered a new friend and his fear of snakes, which was brought to light during one of my visits to the cottage, where a practical joke was played upon our snake friend and left him shaking in his bed at home for a day. This story has become one of legend for our friends up on the lake. Thanks for being a good sport Mike and not pulling out a firearm. This was a great place for this tune to evolve. I felt very calm when writing it, despite the somewhat jumpy feel in the synth-bass line. My favorite part of this tune is the outro which starts around 4:12 on the timeline. It was a challenge for me to try to write and play the drum fills out so that they would be realistic. I used an electronic hi-hat and in retrospect, I guess I should have gone with a more traditional sound but I believe that it feels good and would challenge any drummer out there to work out these parts by playing along on your kits from 4:12 on to the end. Start by working out the kick and snare parts while playing quarter notes on the hi-hat and try to work the fills in from there. Some of them are a little out of control in a Terry Bozzio kind of way. Have fun, I know I did. Comments are always welcome. Thanks for taking the time. Enjoy ! T as in Tom-Tom
