The Olympic torch has passed through Kuala Lumpur amid tight security. In sweltering conditions, 3,000 spectators lined the ten-mile route through the capital of Malaysia and the torch was protected by 1,000 police officers, who warned pro-Tibet protesters they would be arrested if they attempted to disrupt its progress. The torch will travel to Indonesia, Australia and Japan this week as it continues the round-the-world journey to Beijing, where the Olympic Games will take place later this year.Security fears have already prompted changes to the torch's route through Nagano in Japan and caused sponsors to pull out of a motorcade. In Australia, the route has been rearranged to avoid major city areas in Canberra.Next week, the torch will travel to South Korea, North Korea and Vietnam.Vietnam's prime minister, Nguyen Tan DunDung, said: "Vietnam's social security and order are stable but hostile forces always attempt to disturb the situation and make harm to the country's prestige on the international arena."
