What is it? It is a way of managing any kind of organization on a regular basis in which an equality and respect for each individual is systemically built in so that no individual is permitted to act as an overall leader, facilitator, moderator or is able to influence the group inappropriately. It engenders a process which seeks to find the optimum solution for the organization or group of people while not permitting any unconscious selfish influences to affect the process. It can be seen as the next step in human evolution whereby groups of people get together and create a synergy based on Kairos - perfect time - which permits the arising of a wisdom of a higher order than that of any individual. This allows the organization to act as a flexible organic entity with access to natural wisdom similar to that displayed by animals who flee natural disasters before they occur. Frequently, unexpected solutions to complex problems emerge. It is a platform for optimum communication amongst all participants not least because all hidden unconscious agendas are brought to the surface and objectively examined. Where can it be applied? The GEM can be applied in any context where human beings get together to discover and achieve a common goal. How does it work? It requires several key components to operate. No. 1 A suitably prepared environment No. 2 A group of people with an approximate balance of genders but an excess of women over men seems to work better than the other way round. No. 3 A precise acknowledgement of the importance of time structure. No. 4 An explicit acknowledgement that there is no leader, facilitator, moderator or other person or persons with more authority than any other. No. 5 The absolute obligation of any individual to speak when one is moved to do so and to stay quiet when no such impulse arises.
