The four men convicted of the 21/7 (July 21st 2005) bomb plot have been sentenced to a miminum of 40 years in prison. Had the bombs worked, the judge said that at least 50 people, of all religions, would have been killed. In condemning the cowardice of the plotters, he also praised the bravery of two members of the public. One of them, pensioner Arthur Burton-Garbett ran after Ramzi Mohammed after he tried to blow up a tube train at Oval station.
