Teachers TV News - 20 Feb 09

This week on Teachers TV News, Charlotte Hume and the team investigate teachers' workload as the TUC prepares to detail just how much unpaid overtime teachers take on each year. Some statistics suggest if they were paid for overtime, it would £12,000 to the average salary. Helen Jordan speaks to Sir Robin Alexander, author of The Cambridge Review of Primary Education. His review of teaching and the curriculum is the largest ever undertaken and suggests schools are too focussed on numeracy and literacy. And Rob Ludgate reports on a spat between teaching unions over the future of assessment as the General Secretary of the NASUWT brands calls for the abolition of SATs "reckless".
