Now in its seventh year, Paris Plage transforms the centre of the city into a beachside leisure area featuring swimming, mini-golf, petanque, table tennis, sunbathing and other activities synonymous with a day by the sea. Jean-Christophe Choblet, the designer responsible for Paris Plage, said he wanted to recreate an old-fashioned idea of a beach as immortalised by famed French actor Jacques Tati in the 1952 classic "Monsieur Hulot's Holiday".
