The surge was announced in the wake of a string of deadly shootings this week alone. Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno had a briefing just this morning with city council and the school committee to talk about ways to fight crime. Then, tonight there was another shooting in Springfield. Guns, gangs, and drugs - all have contributed to a spate of violence in this western Massachusetts city. Mayor Sarno is urging the public's help to try to prevent crime. read more
