Stars honour Nobel Peace Prize winners

A-list celebrities have gathered in Oslo for a concert paying tribute to this year's Nobel Peace Prize recipient.Hollywood stars Uma Thurman and Kevin Spacey are hosting the event, which recognises the work of former US Vice President Al Gore and the UN's climate change panel. Those taking the stage include Kylie Minogue, Alicia Keys, Annie Lennox, and Melissa Etheridge, who won an Academy Award for the song I Need To Wake Up, featured in Al Gore's environmental documentary An Inconvenient Truth. In accepting the prize, Mr Gore said humanity must "make peace with the planet" or slide down a path of "mutually assured destruction."He added: "As the American Poet Robert Frost once wrote: 'Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice. 'Either,' he notes,'would suffice.'"But neither need be our fate. It is time to make peace with the planet," Mr Gore said in his acceptance speech at the Nobel ceremony.© Independent Television News Limited 2007. All rights reserved.
