Special Report - Israel's Desert Dwellers - The Beduin Population In The Negev - Part 1

Israel's population includes a number of minority sectors. One of them is the Beduin sector. Beduin are the dwellers of the desert, and are divided into two groups. The Beduin in the North and the Beduin in the Negev. The Beduin origins are in Saudi Arabia who arrived in Israel seeking grazing land and land to live off. During the War of Independence the majority fled to Gaza. In 1951 with the start of the military government the Beduin were forced to move to an area known as the Triangle - Arad Beersheba and Dimona. After the military government ended in 1966 the country began constructing permanent towns and this signalled the start of the Beduin independence.
