SPACE: London Development Agency to help fund satellite

The Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, is heading into space. He's agreed a 12 million pound fee to book space on a rocket launched satellite that will handle London's mobile calls and perhaps spell the end for phone masts. The masts have come in for some stick having been accused of being an eyesore, a blot on the landscape and causing cancer. A satellite will be sent up from French Guyana, and the London Development Agency will be working with the private communications company Inmarsat.
