British singer Simon Webbe has revealed how he has been described as the British version of Usher. After a phenomenal 2005, the former Blue member has just begun his solo promotional tour of Asia which coincides with the third release from his platinum-selling debut album Sanctuary. Simon has certainly proved many critics wrong by showing he can make it in the industry on his own- last year alone he notched up two top five hits. The singer co-wrote all the new songs on his album and devised a new sound he has called 'urban folk'. He revealed: 'In doing this album I was labelled the British example of Usher, so I thought what I have to do is change my game plan. 'What I did is to call all my influences, put them in a melting pot and came up with an 'urban folk.' 'Urban folk basically is consisted of samples which come from hip-hop, soulful vocal, lazy vocal and acoustic guitar.' Although he is doing well on his own, Simon revealed he still keeps in contact with his former bandmates. He said: 'It's kind of hard to meet, to get all of us in the one room together because of our separate schedule. 'I went to Lee's concert, I surprised him and the crowd, the fans went crazy and he went crazy, it's amazing. 'Duncan came to my launch party for my album and then we went to the Brits together.'
