RIDGE AND BROOKE TO PORTOFINO (3)

RIDGE AND BROOKE TO PORTOFINO (3)

BROOKE worries that this is just what Stephanie said would happen! She thinks it's too soon, but Ridge says it's all right. It's more than that, Brooke says: it feels good, which is why they have to stop now! Brooke says she shouldn't even be here and turns to leave, but Brooke reminds her that this is HER room. They both start laughing! Brooke tells Ridge that they have to take things slow, to avoid mistakes. Ridge asks if this feels like a mistake, and Brooke says no; in fact, it feels so completely right that it scares her, because she promised herself for Hope's sake that things would be different. Ridge tells her to stop thinking so much and asks her to join him on the balcony, where they can see the beauty of this incredible city. Can they just relax and enjoy it? This has been the hardest time in his life, he explains, so hard that he never thought he'd feel normal ever again. Then she reminded him how it felt to laugh, and for a brief moment, he felt the weight of his tragedy lifted from his shoulders. Now, being here with her, like this... Brooke says she didn't mean for this to happen, but Ridge asks if she's sorry that it did. Brooke thinks it's a combination of his excitement about the challenge and the beauty of this place. If so, Ridge asks, is that so terrible? Brooke points out that this is just what Tricia, Massimo and Stephanie all said would happen. They don't understand the connection he shares with her, Ridge says, the connection that's gotten him through this. And after what he's been through, he's learned not to take anything for granted, especially something precious like this. Before they can continue, Hope starts crying, so Brooke goes to check on her. Brooke returns, saying that Hope had a bad dream. Probably from being scared after waking up in a strange place, Ridge thinks. Getting back to their talk, Ridge admits that he knows that his mom would go ballistic if she knew what just happened here -- but he doesn't care. Brooke says Stephanie would go ballistic to know that she kissed him, but he reminds her that HE kissed HER -- and even if Stephanie won't believe it, he knows how happy Brooke makes him, a happiness he owes to her. Brooke says that she doesn't want to hurt him or complicate his life. Ridge tells her to stop talking like his mother, because he knows that with all her mistakes, she's not malicious. She's a good person, a good mother and a good friend. Brooke says she was trying and was getting better: at least, she thought she was. Ridge tells her to stop doubting herself, but she can't help it after that kiss. As good as it felt, she thinks they should call it a night. OK, Ridge agrees, he'll go. As he turns to leave, she says that he better not kiss her again, or he'll never make it out that door. Ridge says he'll take his chances and leans in for a goodnight kiss. Their lips barely touch in a short kiss before Ridge pulls back and bids her good night. As he leaves, Ridge puts the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the outside of the door. Once he's gone, Brooke puts her hand up to her forehead as if she's swooning and falls backwards onto the bed.
