It is texturing that gives a game it's own unique look and feel. It is a very important part of game design and people such as David Giroux are dedicated to just creating textures. In this video clip, we learn that games can be composed of thousands of unique textures and that the ZBrush blends 2D and 3D technologies while also placing much of the technical side of the application behind the scenes so that artists and designers can focus on the creative side.
