Harry Potter author JK Rowling recently announced that the headmaster of Hogwarts school, Albus Dumbledore, is gay.The stars of the Potter series, who were not aware of the detail, gave their opinon on the revelation.Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley said: "I was quite shocked really, because you don't really expect it, but when you think about it, it does kind of make sense."But Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, doesn't see what all the fuss is about: "I heard a rumour that JK Rowling had told people that but I was just thinking 'oh she's winding them up' and then it came out in the papers and I thought 'oh, maybe she really, really means it then'. I thought it was hilarious and why shouldn't he be gay, he's never had a wife."Rowling said Dumbledore had fallen in love with wizard Gellert Grindelwald, but when his would-be amour turned out to be more interested in the dark arts, he was "terribly let down".When Rowling delivered the news at a speech in New York the audience apparently fell silent, then erupted into applause. The writer said if she'd known that the announcement would get such a warm reception, she would've revealed her thoughts on Dumbledore much earlier.© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
