POLITICS: Shadow Chancellor George Osborne's leaked e-mails over Conservative party spending

Shadow Chancellor George Osborne has promised tough financial discipline as he banned his colleagues from making spending commitments without his approval. The Conservatives' desperation to counter Labour attacks over an ever-growing list of spending promises has been revealed in a series of leaked emails. Mr Osborne's chief of staff warns him that Labour "will always be able to put together a dodgy dossier of commitments", and says they "need to be in a position to rebut".
