Mayor of London Ken Livingstone wants to sack nine men from the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA) because they are all white males. Livingstone says he wants the authority to be more representative of London's diverse population. Meanwhile, the House of Lords has voted to prevent the Mayor of London from standing for a third term in office. If that becomes law, then Livingstone would be forced to stand down next year and let someone else have a go. The Lords vote got through only with a slim majority, but it could have serious consequences for Ken. He says he wants to continue in the job and, currently, he is the official Labour party candidiate for next year's election.
