Papers outlining the case against the parents of missing Madeleine McCann are expected to be passed to the public prosecutor later.Portimao-based prosecutor Jose Cunha de Magalhaes e Meneses will then decide whether to bring charges against Kate and Gerry McCann in connection with Madeleine's disappearance.Chief Inspector Olegario Sousa, spokesman for the Portuguese police inquiry, said: "At the moment the inquiry is being prepared to be handed to the prosecutor in charge of the case."He will analyse it and after this he will make his decision." Asked when the papers would be handed over, he said: "Probably during today."Meanwhile, Madeleine's great uncle, Brian Kennedy give a statement to reporters saying: "Kate and Gerry are continuing to receive many messages of support and the children are fine."They are holding up extremely well...I don't know what their plans are. They will try to lead as normal exisience as possible."Mr and Mrs McCann - who have both been made "arguidos", or formal suspects, in the case - arrived back at their home in Rothley, Leicestershire, on Sunday. After landing at East Midlands Airport, Mr McCann told awaiting reporters: "Kate, Sean, Amelie and I have returned home, as we planned a while ago. We are returning to Britain after careful thought."We want the twins, as much as is reasonably possible, to live an ordinary life in their home country, and want to consider the events of the last few days, which have been so deeply disturbing."Mr McCann said he and his wife have not given up their search for Madeleine, who disappeared on May 3 from their holiday apartment in Praia da Luz on Portugul's Algarve. His voice breaking, he added: "Despite there being so much we wish to say we are unable to do so, except to say this: we played no part in the disappearance of our lovely daughter, Madeleine."Traces of Madeleine's DNA was reportedly found in the family's hire car - despite the fact they leased it 25 days after she went missing.Portuguese police reportedly appear to be working on the theory that Mrs McCann killed her daughter by accident and covered up the death by claiming she was abducted. On Friday, detectives asked Mrs McCann 22 key questions about what happened to Madeleine and later quizzed Mr McCann for eight hours. There are no bail conditions attached to their arguido status and they retain their passports, meaning they could freely return to the UK.© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
