Police are hunting the killer of a 15-year-old boy who was stabbed to death outside the gates of his Northwest London school. Horrified staff and pupils at the London Academy in Edgware witnessed the attack on Kiyan Prince shortly after 3.30pm yesterday - as children were leaving at the end of the school day. The promising footballer, who played for QPR's youth team, was involved in what police described as an altercation outside the school gates with a black youth, thought to be aged around 16, who then ran away towards some nearby flats. QPR's Chairman said: 'He was one of our brightest young talents and the way he went about his business was a credit to himself and his family. 'We'll be doing everything we can to help the family through this terrible time and the club will pay their respects in the best possible manner.' Phil Hearne, principal of the school, one of Prime Minister Tony Blair's flagship city academies, paid tribute to the 'lovely' teenager. Kiyan was 'idolised' by other children at the school, he said, adding that they and staff are devastated. 'He was looked up to by youngsters here, terribly well respected, an extremely reliable, hard working, bright young man. A natural born leader. There is a lot of anger amongst the youngsters because this young man was very well respected.' Several bunches of flowers were left at the school gates, which face on to a small estate. In 2003, 14-year-old Luke Walmsley was stabbed to death by a fellow pupil at Birkbeck Secondary School in North Somercotes, Lincolnshire. In 1995, headteacher Philip Lawrence, 48, was stabbed to death at the gates of St George's Roman Catholic School in Maida Vale as he tried to defend a pupil from a gang of youths.
