Police demand protestors leave Bangkok airport

Thai police have ordered thousands of anti-government protesters who are besieging the capital's airports to immediately disperse or face prosecution. The statement from police responsible for Don Muang airport also banned gatherings of more than five people at the airport and forbade "alarmist" media reports. Hours after a grenade blast wounded more than 50 protesters, and ahead of a big rally in the Thai capital planned by government supporters, the five-point statement did not say how police intended to enforce the emergency rules. An estimated 3,000 people, including hundreds of Britons, are stuck in Thailand after flights in and out of Suvarnabhumi International Airport were cancelled when the anti-government People's Alliance for Democracy took over the building. Sunday's statement was issued by Lieutenant-General Suchart Muenkaew Chief, the police negotiator at Don Muang airport.
